Is anyone here who does not believe that sooner or later the Noront nickel ore mine will not exist?
Does anyone not agree that the E/W road will have to be built.
Does everyone believe that the railway is needed for the chromite ores for all the companies in the Ring.
If you believe as I that the above are given, then it is just a matter of finding the best paths for these to come to be with minimal impact to environment, least cost, and most service to the communities and miners.
The Noront nickel mine and the other chromite mines will be built so there is little difference where and how in terms of environmental impact.
Same for the E/W road. Either build it and suffer what little environmental impact it will have Or exist without it and pay dearly for the diesel, grocery and health costs. ( There is no give without
take, take your pick.)
As for the rail way, either it is built or forget about the chromite. No, a road will not suffice and the environmental impact would be much greater from the road. So accept that it also needs to be built and work towards an equitable compromise on sharing the costs.
If I, an ordinary south Ontarian, can come to these conclusions then why are the natives and politicians wasting time and money on studies, consultants and training for jobs that do not exist.
BECAUSE they care little for the Ring but for their own self interests. All else is just a smoke screen.
