Great article....what's key are these statements by Gravelle.....
"Revenue sharing, infrastructure and energy are discussed all the time with the province, First Nations and industry but nothing is finalized. That doesn't mean things aren't happening Gravelle said.
"There are some very important and significant conversations that are going on that are difficult to talk about until we get to certain point where they can be publicly discussed," he said.""
My opinion......the main issue is the current environmental process....Cliffs has so far backed away and stopped that process....Noront continues theirs
Until that issue is resolved....there is nothing
Why would Cliffs commit to spending billions...and Noront to 100's of millions....and the government to 100's of millions....to have the whole thing blocked
And how vulnerable they become...to have committed all this money....without some assurances....and how empowering would that be to some groups.
Cliffs has already spent over $400 million to take out FWR and SPQ....something that was brought on by the Noront move for FWR. And Noront has already spent several times their current market cap proving up their deposits.
The process is very sensitive.....very important that this gets done right.
The province has someone full time on this, as does the federal government; then there's Bob Rae.
Better to get these issues resolved first
When things start to happen.....they will explode. I just hope we don't have a billion shares outstanding by then.
