i just took a few lines from maureen's article and would comment briefly.

1. it sounds as if they did not have an option b, c or d. that's quite surprising for a large compnay and quite an oversight.

2.'stymied' interesting word which again shows lack of planning alternatives. mr. boor is the head of this company and certainly should take the full responsibility for not being prepared for all outcomes. i as a shareholder would not be very happy with him.

3.1 of the options in #1 is called co-operation. cliffs has been a bully all its life as many huge operations are. they have never had to sit and chat and compromise. this is evidenced in their taking their ball twice and going home. when will they notice that the ball game continued. all they have to do is co-operate/share as the pie is huge.

4.it's there. it's called co-operation, something cliffs has apparently never done. mr. boor is looking to others in order to avert direct criticism from his shareholders. i see a golden hand shake for him if he cannot come to understand compromise.
