Speaking of Churchill, I think someone recently said that there was a road in Manitoba to Churchill. Not so. I used to live in northern Manitoba and the distance between Gillam, which is not exactly the road end, but close, is about 270 km. That is as the crow flies, because there is no road. The rail line that is there is longer than that. Very slow ride by the way because of the muskeg. Derailments are not all that uncommon but at slow speeds are easier to "fix".
