Noront who??
It seems like media would love for us to forget Noront even exists. Forget about the 2 proven deposits. Forget about the National Instrument-s. Forget about the King of the Ring. Forget that NORONT HAS issued a press release stating THEY ARE ON SCHEDULE.
Maybe if the talk is Cliffs over and over and over again.... maybe some will forget....Noront.
As an exercise ..I've recently spoken to some clients of mine (engineers, contractors) and asked if they heard about the Ring of Fire. Most of them said yes..they knew of Bob Rae's move because they heard about it on the news and did hear that the Ring of fire was some deposit in Ontario worth big bucks. They didn't know what the deposit consisted of.
I then asked if they knew who owned the area. Only one mentioned Cliffs. None had heard of Noront. A few said they thought the gov't owned the deposit.
Other than Noront themselves coming out with a press release stating THEY ARE ON SCHEDULE...it's rare to see the media including them in the news.
It brings to mind something I learned when I took a one week course at On-line trading academy.
The Guy teaching the course told us something very interesting. He said," pay special attention to ALL news on a day when there is something big to tell."
For instance ...when the gov't has something crappy to tell us that will put them in a bad light...they strategically come out with the crap on a day that has a big diverting headline.
For example...the day that Michael Jackson was pronounced dead would be a good day to slip in some crappy gov't news..most folks will be so focused on Jackson that they may miss the crap report.
I bring this up because it seems the focus in media is Cliff's problems and Cliffs this and Cliffs that ...more Cliffs..diverting the attention away from Noront. It's this feeling of hey ..."Cliffs is sick...now they are on life support...now they are stable...Bla bla bal
There is so much focus on Cliffs Cliffs Cliffs...that the stealth are grabbing cheap Noront shares while the Cliff visitors kneel at the hospital bed of Cliffs with prayers, gifts of candy and colourful balloons of hope in hand.
If you go back to spring 2009 and think back...you'll remember just about every mining stock rocking and rolling sharply upward. The 2008 crash created unbelievable values and investors were snatching everthing up...everything but Noront ..of course.
I mentioned to a friend of mine today ...that I remember like yesterday running into a neighbour who was full of joy back in the spring of 2009. This guy who knows very little about investing...bought some stocks whose names he recognized (that is how he made his investing choice@@) ...and made a bundle.
He commented to me..."I know you love the market and follow it like crazy ..unlike myself.....
If I made a bundle ....YOU must of made a massive bundle during these last few months!!"
I remember swallowing bile and telling him..."yep..I've done ok. And then...I ran and ran...and screamed deep guttural sounds into the wooded forest not far from where I live.
I called myself every vile name possible and then kept running until exhaustion took over some of the boiling rage I was feeling. Did I mention I was wearing dress shoes at the time??
Anyone watching must of thought I was a kook. I was on fire ..I didn't care at the time.
When I got home I had lots of blisters on my feet and told myself .."don't give up now and do something stupid. " The other stocks had run like the wind and I told myself sternly that if I sell some Noront now at low levels and buy the other stocks that had had a good run...I'd be making a big mistake. This was the end of May 2009. So, I did nothing.
To my surprise with NO warning ...July 15...Noront started to run. It was crazy but beautiful.
The glow came back to my cheeks. My spine straightened when I walked... No more self name calling. All was good.
This can and will happen again.
I suspect Noront will suprise many again..out of the blue..with no warning. They are not Cliffs. They have multiple ROF products to bring to market and their focus is the Eagles nest right now.
While the attention is focused on Cliffs this and Cliffs that...we have an EA a couple of weeks away...do not forget that for a minute...Do not forget the new CEO yet to be announced.
Much like July 15, 2009...I believe there will be no head's up ...No warning..stuff will come at us ..like bullets
Now as far as Cliffs goes...please read below ..of some progress.
That Bill Boor speech JUNE 20 (one whole month ago) painted a certain picture.
The picture one month later is ..different.
Please read below slowly and carefully this news as of two days ago.
Pay special attention to stuff like...."earlier THIS WEEK...closed door meeting was PRODUCTIVE."
and..
Moonias said that in about three weeks, the company and his First Nation may have a mutually-agreeable plan ....
And stuff like 25 million set aside for EXPLORATION.

Six weeks after it hit the pause button on its environmental assessment for its Ring of Fire project, Cliffs Natural Resources announced that its development budget for the proposed chromite mine has been trimmed by US $10 million.
The Cleveland-based company this spring earmarked $60 million for the work to take place this year, including a feasibility study.
A financial report on the company’s second quarter performance released on Thursday shows the figure has been reduced to $50 million.
Regional Cliffs spokeswoman Jennifer Mihalcin confirmed Friday that the reduction is a reflection of the earlier decision to temporarily put the brakes on work on its environmental assessment for the Ring of Fire project.
An additional $25 million set aside for overall exploration remains the same.
In June, Cliffs said it was frustrated by a lack of consensus among provincial, company and First Nations interests regarding how the environmental assessment should proceed.
Cliffs has been trying to nail down the assessment’s terms of reference for two years. The mine’s proposed in-production year is 2017.
The company has emphasized that it is not pulling out of the $3.3-billion project, to include an open-pit mine 500 kilometres north of Thunder Bay as well as a Sudbury-area smelter.
Chromite is a key ingredient in the manufacture of stainless steel. The Ring of Fire mine, including the smelter and transportation network, could create 1,200 jobs over a projected 30-year mine life.
Earlier this week, Marten Falls First Nation Chief Eli Moonias said a closed-door meeting with Cliffs officials in Thunder Bay was productive.
Moonias said that in about three weeks, the company and his First Nation may have a mutually-agreeable plan on how to determine the potential environmental fallout from the proposed mine.
The plan could be shown to other First Nations in the Ring of Fire orbit, setting the stage for a thorough probe of the mine’s potential impacts that’s acceptable to affected reserves, said Moonias.
“We want to have the opportunity to investigate independently what (Cliffs) is going to do, because right now we don’t have a clue about what chemicals could get into the water,” said Moonias.
The Matawa First Nations group has gone to court to argue for an independent review panel into Cliffs’ Ring of Fire proposal.
Cliffs, as well as the federal government, have maintained that a comprehensive review, which does not involve public hearings, is adequate for the project.
In its second-quarter report for the period ending June 30, Cliffs said consolidated revenues of $1.5 billion decreased by $91 million, down six per cent from the year before.
Cliffs blamed the revenue drop on an 11-per cent decrease in global iron-ore prices.
