Lots of fine opinions on this forum following the budget disappointment, may I sum up and add some fuel to the fire:

JohnL: Subway in the north just could fly but better to transplant Mississauga to the Ring before they will really listen. They do not care about anything except sheer size of votes. Hence subways in big T. and another tunnel or bridge to Detroit. Not enough votes up north to be heard.

Agree with Canseco regarding conditions of said funding to natives but after the following.

B-Jay: The Ontario government is putting the cart before the horse by throwing money at training the natives for jobs that do not exist. Federals likewise prefer to spend time in environmental commities while lunch is on us.

Queen's Park was waiting for Cliffs to do the hard work so the politicians could take the credit. With Cliffs in financial recession we now need the likes of Xstrata/Glencore to do it. The politicians are still waiting along with us.

As Sum4 implies, that 100 million $s is likely to be spent south of Sudbury instead of where needed most ( and I am a south Ontarian peaking for the north, imagine ).

Also they say they will balance the budget by when? I believe it was years ago that same promisses were made to do it by now, Ahem! So the lame excuse will continue with the ignorant public swallowing line and hook. That is the excuse they use not to
fund the all weather road which in turn could make it easier to add the power and rail lines.

Northern Ontario needs to separate (or at least seriously threaten to) to be noticed by the south and especially by Queen's Park. Some long years ago northerners did threaten to separate, what happened since to that effort?
(Didn't Sault St.Marie get some government offices located there to quieten the noise?)
