I am a aboriginal
From this point of view, I understand the hardships faced by the native community. Deals throughout history have not benefited the people. Quite often land has been damaged...to a point that is sinful. Creatures of the land and water suffer and die, including it's people. Often, it is business that caused the larger scale damage and has benefited the most.
Often it seems.... the government turns a blind eye. It is inevitable given the nature of a resource business.
Normal dispute resolution channels are often tedious to say the least. By the time you see your day in court, the changes have been passed....and your voice has gone unheard.
Sometimes more affirmative action is required.
However, as a people that persues self government, a system must be in place that provides education for it's people.... provides for basic needs....protects it's culture...respects it's beliefs
Who is to blame when the people are uneducated, unable to meet basic needs...is the system fair to it's own people? Who is to blame for high unemployment....for the substance abuse that spreads accross the land.....an epidemic....who is benefitting and who is not?
The voices that are spoken....are they for all the people or just a select few.
To deny shortcomings is blindful.
I am a government employee
As a government employee, I have a mandate to be fair, honest....act with integrity....held to a higher standard. Ultimately, I represent the people...all the people...it is of no interest to me their sex, their religion or skin color...but rather....compliance
There are shortcomings though....many...many. All Canadians must endure shortcomings in our system. We may find we need to seek experts to help guide us through..to benefit or lesson the burdon. It's not perfect, nor will it ever be...but it's somewhat transparent....and it's dynamic....ever changing
Sometimes for better....sometimes not
I am a Canadian citizen
As a citizen of this country, I have been a husband and a father...a grandfather...a registerant, a taxpayer, a licencee, a landlord, a tenant, a consumer, a business agent, a customer, a patient, an injured worker, a recipient of social assistance. At times.... it was tedious to say the least.
On occasion....I have had to take affirmative action
But, I love this country. I think it is the best place in the world to live....otherwise, I would move....simple as that.
I am very...very fortunate.
I am an investor
I live within my means...I have a plan for tomorrow.....I am a saver and I am an investor.
My choice is resource stocks because that is what I understand most...and I have a passion for the business ...history in the making....as Canadian as Hockey Night in Canada
I understand that there are competing interest...it's been a hard lesson some times
I get fustrated ....confilicted ....many points of view
Everyone has a valid point. I may not agree, but, I am not hurt by opposing points of view. Not always is the solution to everyone's favor...most often it is a compromise.
Time dictates the outcome......from the point of view of the native...the government...the citizen....the investor.... and outcomes too are dynamic...ever changing
Hopfully for the better, for myself as an aboriginal, as a representative of a government, as a citizen, as an investor
