39 guests attended the dinner on Saturday and we had a blast. Appparently the numbers don't matter. It was a huge success again. Next year in Niagara for the historic 5th ROF Classic ! Mark it down.
Rode all day in the cart with Jim Voisin and also had Truckulater and Momma Truck on my team. We finished last in golf but finished first with the cart girls, who kept supplying our group with liquids. Nearly wiped out our cart into the bog on #16.
Most important investing lesson I learned : need to consolidate, I'm spread too thin.
On my Ring of Fire parody.... no mic stand so DJO (Malcome), volunteered to hold the mic while I sang and played guitar. That was different. Probably more for DJO who I think wanted to start singing with me. Thanks for that DJO, couldn't have done it without ya !
Also played an original song parody called Blind Dates. I think that got some laughs. First time I played that one in public.
KWG and Bold were well represented with a number of prizes and four executives present. And Jim Voisin was promoting First Mex and UC most of the day.
Noront was also well represented with many prizes on the table and was the major contributor to the raffle prizes for the Webecque kids.
George from Agoracom & his wife, contributed two pairs of premier event passes to the Toronto Int'l Film Festival next year. These tickets are real hard to get I'm told. So thanks to George and his wife for that. My wife bought 5 tickets and the first 3 we drew were her's ! Finally we got a different winner after the 4th try and it was Elaine from Bold.
Also contributing were : The luxurious Millcfroft Inn in Alton, Ont. and Jacob's Steakhouse, voted the #1 steakhouse in Toronto.
We took in a total of $950 for the kids. Thanks to everyone in attendance for contributing to the Kids Fund. Their Christmas just got better. And a big time thank you to Noront for providing the majority of the raffle prizes.
Had a long discussion with Peter Marshall about Noront and we both came to some conclusions. He kept referring to a post he put up recently and it finally sank in through the bottle of white. Bottom line is that we think things are moving faster than most think. The government isn't saying anything but to make this a mine by 2016, things have to be getting started this winter. What does this mean for the SP ? Not much probably - we're in the production stage - permitting process. Once that's done, we start to move. I expect that's not far off.
Talked to Moe Lavigne from KWG this morning at breakfast. He is a very knowledgable fellow. If you ever get a chance, do engage a discussion with him.
David Graham from Bold - very pleasant personality and I only wish I had the chance to speak with him.
Jazz band was great and even the non-jazzers were impressed. I told the singer that was the best compliment they could have received. She knows that. They enjoyed the gig and I have four new musician friends.
I know a lot about Mexico today. My hat goes off to Jim Voisin for his abilities in dissecting through the Mexican culture and it's people's personalities. Ahem, that's not exactly the words Jim used...... lol. Had a very enjoyable day with Jim, Truckulater and Momma Truck. And I doubt very much that anyone else matched our level of "blue language"......
Very enjoyable day and evening. And then we went to Hoov's party in his suite at the hotel.....
Red Ore Gold - Hoov is the new CEO as most now know. Lar showed us a map on his laptop. The property is in Nevada. Appears to have some exciting potential. Keep your eye on this one. The management is excellent, you know that for starters.
And lastly, thanks to Irish for all the work and help with prizes, recruiting, etc. And thanks to Hoov for his help and the great party/information session. I couldn't do this every year without your assistance. The two of you and Frank (glorieux) have been cornerstones.
Now remember everyone : Next year in Niagara Falls for the historic 5th ROF Classic. The date will be either Sept. 14th or 21st for sure.
Okay I'm done. No more, I promise !
