I frankly don't know, but isn't it about time they join Canada as Canadian citizens with equal 'responsibilities' and rights?
Ok, they were born on Canadian 'gov't' land with exclusive living, hunting, and fishing rights to that section of land, but are not owners of it. This land belongs to the people of Canada..
This land is for the gov't to say how and for what purpose it is to be used, since they are the Custodians of the land for the people of Canada, not the first Nations
According to Canadian law, this also makes them Canadians at birth, and subject to Canadian laws just as the rest of you are.
However, if this land is not Canadian soil, then they are not Canadan citizens by birth.
I wonder what documents they presently use to travel outside of ther lands and Canada?
I realize this is not "politically correct" as they say in th ole US, but as far as I can see, true.,
I sympathize with them and also would do whatever I could to get a piece of the pie, why not? But this does not make it morally right.
