Message: What's the Stong Stable Plan for Ontario?

..back in March 2010 Lieutenant Governor David Onley stated that the Ring of Fire was the most promising mining discovery in a century.

AT the same time in March 2010 this was said:

The province hopes developing a recently discovered massive deposit of chromite in the Ring of Fire area, 500 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay, will help drive down the $21.3 billion deficit.

“For the 21st century, the discovery of chromite in the Ring of Fire could be as big as the discovery of nickel was in Sudbury in the 19th century,” Finance Minister Dwight Duncan said in his budget speech.

The ring’s development will be managed by a new coordinators office, which will bring together competing interests, from First Nations to mining companies, the government and environmentalists.

Let's hear what Onley and Duncan have to say next week about what exactly is the plan to create jobs.

Jobs And Economy Are Top Priority, McGuinty Says

Premier Dalton McGuinty said today the top priority for Ontario's government is creating jobs and boosting the economy.

In a major speech to the Economic Club of Canada today, the Premier said that in a period of slower growth in the global economy, it is more important than ever for Ontarians to work together to strengthen Ontario's economy. The Premier also noted that even in the midst of a global economic storm, Ontario is a safer haven than most thanks to our highly skilled and educated workforce, our strong health care system and investments in infrastructure that have kept our economy moving.

Further details of the government's plan to strengthen the economy and create jobs will be spelled out in the coming Speech from the Throne and the government's Fall Economic Statement.

  • Lieutenant Governor David Onley will deliver the Speech from the Throne on November 22, outlining the government's positive plan for jobs and the economy.
  •
  • Finance Minister Dwight Duncan will deliver the Fall Economic Statement on November 23.
  • In the coming months, the government will receive the report from the Commission on the Reform of Public Services, chaired by economist Don Drummond
