Hi, AV-

Hmmm. From where I sit in the U.S. and looking at the science of global climate change as being quite conservative in its estimates of how fast we are collectively cooking the planet by burning fossil fuels, I can say that the short-term gain to be gotten from strip mining the tar sands and then using a massive amount of energy to turn the sludge into oil just makes no sense at all. It's a net energy loss. And that says nothing of the catastrophic results of the strip mining process would have on Alberta.
