First off, and at the risk of repetition (although some things cannot be repeated often enough) Ken's efforts in making this evening a success were apparent, and highly successful. Mrs. Crazydik and I had a great time meeting many of those who, until that evening, existed only in the ether of the blogosphere. The flesh and blood versions did not disappoint.
Baby Babjak (hardly a baby at 11 years old going on 25!) spoke eloquently and with the force of conviction, and without missing a beat, on the issues facing the youth of Webequie, and the room was clearly moved and impressed. Well done! (I have suggested to Babjak that when the young woman comes of age, she should consider a future arguing before a Jury, and I should be pleased to have her as part of my team).
I did not have the opportunity to speak with Wes, but no loss, as Goldfinger clearly made the most of that opportunity, with thanks.
I did speak with Richard about my concerns with the lack of transparency with the NOT board, and the silly present share price. Richard shared those concerns.
At the same time, he continues to hold around 3 million shares, and as I understand it, is the single largest non-corp retail holder. And he isn’t selling. The clear impression that I took from our conversation reinforced what many of us already believe; namely, that once infrastructure comes to the Ring, we, as well as many other holders of shares in the Ring companies, are going to do well, irrespective of our present views of management. In fact, there seemed to be a consensus on that point by other senior shareholders in the room.
I share that view.
Although this was primarily a social evening, I came away feeling more comfortable about – most- of my investments in the ROF, and I will continue to put my money where my mouth has been these many long years. All junior type plays involve a significant component that can best, and only, be described as gambling, but that the ROF will be developed, and the significant resources therein exploited, is a gamble that I remain fundamentally comfortable with.
And it appears that I am not alone in this.
Remaining long and strong.
