" Now it seems everyone in the north has status. It's a real shame and I have to bite my tongue everytime I hear a bleeding heart southerner talk about the wrongs done to the natives. I wish these people would spend a week up in the north and see what it is really all about!"
I understand your position Nakinagirl but I am one of those bleeding hearts from the south. I will also agree that a portion of any group of people will drop to their lowest common denominator when under certain conditions. I remember back when I was a kid, farm trucks would pick up folks to take out to the orchards to pick fruit. Now no one but Jamaicans shipped up from the island will do that "menial" work because the white folks got a little too uppity and didn't want to get their hands dirty or do any sweating. They liked the jobs they could get at Stelco/Dofasco, Dominion Glass and American Can, bragging that they slept their night shift when no admin. were around. Most of those places are gone now. Wonder why. They got used to the money, who wouldn't right? I think most have at least heard some of the stories about shipping FNs to residential schools, separating families.... to say nothing of the beatings, banning of tribal language and other abuse. Has the pendulum swung the other way. Very likely from the overly apologetic liberal class. Will FNs be unreasonable in various situations, very likely. It is also likely that you will see any number of groups of people exercising the same behaviour. It is not specific to FNs. Do we get annoyed when we see seemingly undeserved preferential treatment..... likely so. But we should bear in mind the backdrop for all cultures who we find ourselves at odds with. It is generally not the rank and file, it is the leadership that needs redirection. Finally, we know that the big corporations are out to kill unions and create an increased shift of wealth to the already wealthy. People of all backgrounds are going to have a battle on their hands to maintain pensions and a reasonable standard of living without working three jobs at fast food places. People will apply leverage when they have that rare opportunity to do so. I believe in being reasonable, the FNs will ultimately have to be so too. I don't like greed and what it does to people but things have a way of ultimately balancing as we are going to see in the years ahead. The ROF will happen and the players will all take their places according to their position on the food chain. Just my opinion.
