Noront has been working very closely with Dr. Greg Baiden of Sudbury for several years. Here are some of his credentials:

- Bachelors and Masters in Mining engineering - Queens University

- Doctorate - McGill University

- Former Manager of Mines Research at Inco

- Director of the School of Engineering at Laurentian University

- Canada Research Chair in Robotics & Automation

- Chairman of Penguin Automated Systems - A firm in Sudbury conducing advanced research into robotics and mine engineering. Paul Semple is a partner at Penguin.

- responsible for the development and implementation of remote controlled scooptrams at Inco

To say that Dr. Baiden is well connected in Sudbury and in the world wide mining network would be an gross understatement. He is world renound in mining.

There was a lot of speculation where Cliffs would locate their ferrochrome smelter but for them the choice was obvious. They chose Sudbury because it is the largest mining community in Canada if not the world. The advantages of locating in Sudbury are too numerous to mention.

With the close ties to Dr. Baiden plus all the other obvious advantages that Sudbury offers, it is safe to assume the Noront operations will be in Sudbury.

In fact I will be very surprised if Dr. baiden does not become a VP of Noront or VP of Vale or Xstrata after the buy out.
