Lets put it this way so many can understand. The FNs are not getting paid for the transmission line. They are getting restitution for damage to the land they have rights to use for support of life. Most posters here can walk to a supermarket and buy food off the shelf. The lands that have been called tradition territories are the FNs supermarket and any transmission lines or roads or mines affect this ability to survive. Think of it as taking the meat isle out of your supermarket.Of course your going to object and want reassurence that you will be compensated for the disadvantage of shopping somewhere else. These lands have been legaly dealt with and when they were not wanted no one cared about them other than to fly in for some fishing or hunting trip. Now value is found under the ground and FNs feel that as part of their supermarket which they use for trading for outside items, they should share in the value of the product that is on their shelves. Its not a problem as even if it was crown land belonging to just Canada, the "government "will take its share. What we are seeing is how much "TAX" will be shared by each form of government, Canada, Ontario, municipal, FNs as in Matawa, NAN and local bands. Its a negotiation amongst them and Noront and Cliffs will still get their share too as they would anywhere. Let them negotiate and we can take our share upon approvals.
