The question that needs to be answered by all parties is, do the FNs own the land title for all the area they claim as traditional territory including what is under and above, or did they join Canada for the benifits of country with the intent that they will be able to use the surface land to hunt, trap, fish for the purpose of feeding and sustaining themselves. The FNs should expect a compensation for expropriation or entrance right away. The settting aside reservations land for ownership was accomplished with that intent. Little is talked about how the FNs were in a dire circumstances and and wanted to join into the countries benifits as small as they were at the time. They benifits have been greatly increased from the time of the treaty signing. Are they willing to give up all benifits of Canada to have the land title. No support, education or payments of any kind. This is what they may have to negotiate with consequense. The FNs want respect for who they are but so does any person who has been born on the same land and in the same country. How far back and who is concidered "NATIVE" now??
