Fraud excluded, Stock Manipulation is an activity that can only be practiced on idle. Everytime a stock is throttled up by a rumour, a discorery, or a sudden institutional interest, the fragile manipulation strings get easily broken and cannot sustain the acceleration force that proppels the price to the sky!

For instance, let's spread the rumour of a leak that Vale is about to take a 19% position in Noront. A financial reporter writes a paper heading "The next Voisey's Bay will remain canadian". The article would say that Noront is about to reveal its long awaited deep drill assays, and combined with Vale's own figures and estimations, and the results could well provoke an earthquake that could resound to the whole world. Citing an undisclosed source, the reporter affirms that the Brasilian Giant, whose mission is to be the world leading nickel company, is thinking 'the Eagles are filled with so much highgrade, firstclass Nickel that Voisey's Bay would be downgraded as the number 2 nickel camp in North America. Added to that, Mrs Maki was seen around Noront people more than once during the last months, at shows and public outings and cocktails... The article goes further stating that that Vale is said to have express concern that they're not gonna make the same mistakes they made over there in '95. So they have a strong will to have Noront, a canadian corporation, to be their foreship to this project, praising their efficient and experienced managers (don't shoot at me!!!), and which is well acquainted with the First Nations communities, and so on, and so on.

I bet then that in the next hours, all the 500 shares walls and other end-session manipulation devices would collapse, and our stock price would fly north like a rocket!

Worrying about manipulation in idle situation (between assays, PPs, AGM, updates, etc...) is like worrying about the actual wind direction while the boat is at dock for the day.
