Classification is based on points based on participation. Those who wish to achieve that status, not that many really care about it, should participate likewise.

There is no resigning, it is up to Agoracom to make any status changes. What makes you think they are not interested? One can post every day and have nothing to say while others could offer one post every three months and have other posters glad for it.
