There are lots of reasons why a company wouldn't take NOT over now, I'm just mulling over some of the reasons they would.
1. Timing, slow time of year.
2. 50 day average is very low relatively speaking
3. Lots of cash in NOT
4. Loads of intellectual property
5. Investor Fatigue
6. Do it before they issue any more options, less dilution and more control.
7. Noront AGM coming soon
8. If Cliffs (assuming they would be interested) is serious about developing in the ROF, how could you not want the Noront claims and their product suite.
9. Inwentash seems to be restless, and is probably more in control than we know.
10. Lots of drilling going on all over ROF, which could spark renewed interest and drive up prices.
11. Cliffs SP is strong. Without doing the math I'm guessing they could grab Noront for not much more than they paid for Freewest.
12. Management changes at Noront. Defending a takeover without your IR representative would be more exhaustive of management.
On top of this I emailed Noront again on Wednesday with no reply. Pretty much the second time I've emailed and the second time I've received no response. My words were not exactly praising but they were professional and I'd expect a response. Maybe the response is now irrelevant?
Of course, I could probably list just as many reasons not to takeover Noront at this time but I have learned over the past 2 years of owning this stock, that I know pretty much nothing. And what I think I know appears to be worthless. Unless this rumour is true, of course...and then I'm a genius!
