go home. There really is no point in doing anything because taxes could go up, the climate could change and freeze us into another ice age or nature first drown us at the coast lines, terrorists could attack or worst of all..... we may not be able to predict the future so why do anything risky? Heaven knows we don't need any more materials out of the ground, we already have enough stuff in our dump sites to recycle for ever. We don't need anymore gold because we can just advertise recycling our old gold relics. After all, gold is only good for jewelry and a couple of exotic electronic circuits.... oh yes there are still a few fillings out there too.
I have noted something over the past years though. It seems that ultimately big business gets it's way and when it comes down to dollars.....lots of them, dollars talk. Closed mines don't make money for taxes and out of work people don't make money for taxes. Since the job and industry drain, Canadian diplomats have been combing the planet looking for foreign interest to set up shop here. Perhaps it's a good thing with the Aussie mining tax. Canada can perhaps learn from this situation in terms politicians may be able to understand.
