We perhaps all feel the same way to a degree. We would all like to own (or more of ) NOT. Unfortunately, the market for base metal specs will continue to shrink until the majors can establish some direction. That will not happen quickly. Speculative takeover premiums are quickly being ground out of everything in the sector and will remain that way until the majors can shake off the Aussie trauma. That will not happen soon, but regardless will have a very profound impact on when and what they buy, and what they are willing to pay. Australia base metals have become undesireable overnight, and the Corps are asking themselves " What did we miss and how do we prevent this from happening again ?" Capital budgets will not vaporize but will become much more retarded as political risk is redefined. Canada can only benefit if it entrenches a longer term policy for mining investment. We currently have none, choosing as Australia did to simply live politically from election to election. Makes me sad to see a very dedicated and competent Canadian industry being left to a worldwide shake-out due to our political lack of a long term commitment.
