Vermillion, these are excellent questions and all of us would be well-advised to consider them.

A much wiser and more experienced poster than I warned me never to put anything in a PM (or perform any other action, for that matter) that I would not want exposed to the light of day. Reason: we cannot be 100% assured of the security of internet sites.

Everything is relative, of course. Who wants to go around up-tight about every little detail of everyday living? Discretion is the watchword though and will be ignored at our peril.
