Reading the Ontario budget yesterday and the mention of the ROF as such a high priority just seemed so surreal to me.
That has led me to make this comparison which could and should be ridiculed at this stage of the game, but I am coming out with it anyways.
Ontario's Ring of Fire vs Alberta's Oilsands.
The first mention of the ROF on such a grand stage as a Provincial Budget should not be taken lightly. It's obviously being viewed as a saviour for Ontario's abysmal economy, much the same as the Oilsands were for Alberta (and the rest of Canada).
The Oilsands were debated for decades but took about 5 years to be put into production and it was not a smooth road, and there well several counts of greed...the biggest appearing to be the Alberta Gov't.
Here's a simple quote to give some perspective. 'In 2007, Statistics Canada valued the oil sands at $342.1 billion'
I am a believer that the Eagles Nest is but a tip of the Iceberg in the ROF, as I'm sure many of you do as well.
Completely unreasonable?
I don't think so.
