A current example of this type of cooperation and First Nations participating where they have no previous experience is The Wuskwatim Generating Station in northern Manitoba. This is being jointly developed by Manitoba Hydro and Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN). NCN has not only provided workers but were involved in planning and design from the start. They have the opportunity to own 33% of this generating station. Although the example is in a different industry than our project, I think partnerships with First Nations are the way of the future.
