"The three groups feel the withdrawal of the lands not already claimed would minimize negative environmental impacts, protect the public interest, help prevent conflicts and ensure meaningful long-term benefits to the people that live there.

Does this not suggest that the lands already staked are not in question?:"

Gleegee

I would have to agree with you Gleegee, the claims that have already been claimed are not in question. However, the release specifically is directed to the lack of consultation with their communities concerning development in the Ring of Fire and a disregard for their environment.

We all know that Noront has been working very actively in communicating the Company's exploration activity in the Ring of Fire with the First Nations communities. Noront has obviously maintained a very good relationship with this group. This situation should have no impact on Noront. This release further reinforces their relationship with First Nations communities and sends a clear message to Cliffs and other companies that have not included these groups in any preliminary discussion.

I would have to say that NOT is in the front seat on this issue.
