From memory so the facts may be a bit off but the essence of the story is there.
In the fall of 2006 Aurelian was a small player with about 30 million shares outstanding. It had developed a small low grade deposit in Ecuador (in 2004) but it was old news and not getting any better. In early 2006 the shares were trading in the $0.50 range. Based on a new geological interpretation they drilled a blind hole a kilometre or so north of the little deposit and hit 200 meter plus of 4.4 g/t gold in April. This started the stock moving a bit but in June they announced hitting a 200+ meter intercepts of 8+ g/t gold along the same horizon and the stock took off. Through the summer and fall they continued drilling along strike and at depth and continued to hit more impressive grades and ended up with a 13million oz+ gold deposit with a small share float. Hence the explosive stock growth.
