Chromite mining on Not and FWR deposits should involve no chemical processing, unlike nickle/copper or other sulphide ore mining. Some mechanical and/or magnetic sorting of mined material may be done on-site.

USA EPA study has shown that chromite isn't a hazardous or toxic substance, and requires no special handling or permitting.
