Message: Interesting Read On ROF Chromite

I sell industrial equipment and my biggest account right now is a Steel Mill, so I've learned a thing or two about steel production in NA over the past while.

What I've learned is that it doesn't matter what your "brand" is right now. In this economic time in the US they are only concerned with what the vendor's price is, and the cheapest price will win MOST of the time. So I don't really care what "Nike Brand" they try and spin on the Canadian Chrome, I don't care how much they talk about how great the ferrochrome is compared to South Africa's, what they had better be able to do if they want to capture market share is sell it CHEAPER than anyone else.

What I hear walking around this particular steel mill I deal with is that ownership is considering shutting down the production side of the plant (steelmaking) and just keeping the coating, tin, and hot strip lines running because they can actually buy the steel cheaper from Brazil and bring it in than make it themselves.
