can operate in an area the size of the ROF?I'm sure there are several cos operating independantly in the Sudbury basin.I would also think that they each do not have their own smelters. The ferrochrome plant may be where the money is to be made.Maybe the real race is on to build the plant first and NOT's offer for FWR chrome (if that is indeed the motive behind the offer) is to discourage Cliffs plans to be that operator.I can foresee more than one mining operation, each with their own concentrator, sharing a rail line to one large capacity smelter that refines the ore into the very valuable final product. The values that I have seen assigned to these products(please give the correct figures if you know them for sure) vary but most agree that concentrated chromite ore arriving at the smelter is worth anywhere between $400/t and $600/t depending on the grade. The refined product ferrochrome is what,$1800 ? or more/tonne.This IMO is where good profits can be made if the electricity is cheap enough and from what I've heard,in ONT.,it is.NOT has hinted that they can obtain a new plant, still in the original box out of SA but they won't proceed with that endeavor if someone else were to build one first.Too many things to think about, primarily the reason that FWR just wants to sell the deposit for the best price and move on to other projects.
