Don,

That was the rumour I heard as well 1 million I believe. I know the mayor of Greenstone had also been working with CN , trying to prevent the removal of the track. I believe he got another year. I guess the year is up, and the rail is coming out.

I always assumed the rail line would run from Nakina, mainly because I figured the road would be running from Nakina to Mcfaulds Lake.

I still believe the road will be in long before the rail line, and if this happens, we will be trucking ore(Not Chrome) to Nakina to load into rail cars for furtherance to Sudbury.

Not sure the mileage as the crow flies from Longlac to Mcfaulds but I'm guessing further and it would only save 30 rail miles.

Another option may be Hearst again not sure of the distance, from Mcfaulds Lake.

This would save approx 130 rail miles. But at approx 1 million cost per mile for rail, it better not be much further than 200 miles. Also I believe there may be one or two more rivers to contend with as well.

If someone knows how to compute the distances as the crow flies to Nakina. Longlac, and Hearst we would probably know where the rail line is going.

Tks RR
