Good Afternoon Old Joe and everyone else.
Thank you for your messages of support and for those who would like to discuss the topic of relevance even further. After taking everything into consideration and given the boards determination to keep the Main Discussion forum a place to discuss Noront, and to a lesser extent, the Ring Of Fire from the Perspective of the Noront Investor.
I am sure that in spite of everyones best efforts to keep their arguments on topic, you might find yourself talking more about McFaulds or the Ring of Fire in General terms rather than in terms of the afformentioned and how they may come to benefit Noront. This is understandable and I assure you that even though your message might be reported as a violation, and you may even get your message removed, I can assure you that 99.99999% of times this won't leave to anyone's termination.
Why? Well we are human after all and from time to time we find ourselves overwhelmed in emotion. We rushed into a post and failed to trickle it down and decipher its each and every detail. There are a lot of parameters us admins and this Community's Hub Leaders take into consideration in determining what is topical or relevant and what is not. A tell tale sign is the number of recommendations such a post has removed; if the post in question has been recommended 15 times, it is highly unlikely an admin would remove your post or warn you about your behavior.
To summarize; if your post and its content is determined to be of value to the community, a self serving model such as our own, with the Qualitative Metrics put in place (green thumbs, member ratings) you will not find your post removed nor should you worry about any consequences. As an example of what would likely lead to deletion, any of our Hub Leaders are kindly requested to proceed here to see a recent deleted example. Any such messages will be deleted or moved to the Off Topic Forum.
Now onto the more complicated matter of what would we consider or label "SPAM". I won't burden you too much with the Jargon, but would like to reference selected excerpts from the terms Wikipedia page:
"In the 1980s the term was adopted to describe certain abusive users who frequented BBSs (Bulletin Board Systems).... who would repeat "SPAM" a huge number of times to scroll other users' text off the screen....] In early Chat rooms services like PeopleLink and the early days of AOL, they actually flooded the screen with quotes from the Monty Python Spam sketch -- It later came to be used on Usenet to mean excessive multiple posting—the repeated posting of the same message. The unwanted message would appear in many if not all newsgroups..."
As you can clearly see, we are drawing references to petty messages that have increased in frequency, which should belong in the private inboxes of the individual members the message is directed to. To put this into perspective, if the Qualitative Metrics put in place on this forum, suggest that these posts or comments do not benefit the community, it's likely your post will be removed and if this behavior continues after warning, will lead to consequences.
Any senior member on this site knows that we go to extreme measures in monitoring our forum and keeping this a safehaven for shareholders to exchange your honest perspectives on this forum. However we won't let this board become overrun with messages that really don't belong here. I firmly believe that everyone here can use their discretion and excersize the necessary restraint and self control to keep this forum as relevant to everyones favorite topic; Noront Resources.
Before I sign off, I would like to encourage members who would like to discuss this issue in further depth, to either post on the Noront Off Topic forum, or to reach us privately via the General Inbox or via PM. I really do enjoy sharing your insights and look forward to providing you with a response.
I do hope this clarifies your inquiries.
Thank you all again for your messages, your insight and for your participation within the AGORACOM Community.
Regards,
Andreas Marouchos
