Trying to catch up between workshifts. Regarding the swamp water thing, we have got to put this in perspective. Nanaimo(wrere I live) grew out of coal mining. In the early 1900's mining the coal beds(which apperently there is still lot's of) alot of the shafts went under the harbour. Many oldtimers talked about hearing the ships above while in these shafts. Today all those shafts are flooded with sea water. If in the early 1900's they could keep the shafts dry from the presure of the seas above I'm confident a little swamp will not be a problem.
