News release? not necessatily so, even tomorrow.
They could have been waiting for the sellers to drop their asking prices and that not happening, they decided to buy anyways at the higher asks at the last minutes. My speculation is that they know or hope for the possibilities and did not want to risk waiting until tomorrow to get their fill.

I had an itchy finger to sell a few in the last half hour as a hedge but when I saw the stampede it convinced me that this beast has found it's legs and will likely run a bit more tomorrow. Maybe then I will sell some but if the momentum continues then I will be tight fisted.

I suspect many of the Asks that were pulled were not head fakes but will also wait tomorrow morning and hope that the buyers will be there to off load them at higher prices.
