The NOT share price just does not make sense lately.
I say this as many of the other stocks that I have followed for years were equally hit with 75% reductions in value last September/October and many of those have slowly crawled there way back closer and closer to pre-crash values.
The pure Junior spec stocks were the worst hit which was expected given the liquidity crisis. But Noront has money to continue to drill and follow its strategic program.
Some of the established companies on the TSX(V) like NOA, OYL, and even FWR all took a hit but have recovered fairly well since hitting extreme lows. FWR is near its 52 week high while Noront sits with a stagnant share price.
Of interest of late is that Nickel has broken through $6 a pound this week for the first time since last September. A good increase given that inventory levels have doubled since last September. The trend is definitely upwards.
I back the strategy of Noront in drilling and establishing resource estimates but at some point they need to s and get off the pot when it comes to the investment side of their motives. If they are willing to drive this up and down by a nickel or dime here they are contributing to an undermining (no pun intended) of the perceived stability of the Noront share price and its ability to recover as both commodity prices and the economy recovers. Where will the new money come from to buy up the shares at higher prices when the stock continues to underperform? Especially if every time the stock goes up a dime it is beaten back down.
I am still all in with Noront and willing to be patient, but I will say that of all of the stocks that I have invested in this year (I think I am at 150 trades so far), Noront is one of the only ones that has underperformed.
My hope is that the CEOs do not assume that a return on investment will occur just because they find more hits in the ground. Confidence in the share price is required to attract the kind of investors who will provide a stable and slowly climbing share price. This confidence can be built by accumulating at these prices and investing for the future. It could also be built by attracting strong hands with a vision for the future rather than making a nickel each month. It would be interesting to learn of the strategic approach each of the major insiders is taking in regards to the stock they hold.
Anyway, keep the faith. Even if we are the last ones on the bus we at least have a good seat waiting.
