Sorry CS but I'm not sure what you would prefer Vale to do?

Should they continue to operate at a loss and stockpile the nickel?

This would further add to the oversupply and depress the price of nickel even further.

Do these binding committments mean the company should run itself into bankruptcy during economic downturns?

That would mean that all jobs would be lost and Sudbury would suffer forever instead of just for 3 months.

I'm sure the people of windsor and oshawa would prefer a 3 month shutdown of the auto industry to what they are facing today.
