Great chromite results for Noront in this news release. They said that their focus for 2009 was chromite.
Unfortunately, with the global market the way it is, no one cares. Everyone thinks nickel will be the savior. Will it be? Good question.
However, I think that Noront will continue to drill for chromite while trying to spot a nickel motherlode. Mac Watson certainly is trying to do the same over at Freewest.
The really interesting enigma for me is Mr. Novak. He has told me point blank that chromite is a strategic mineral (okay, I buy that), and we know that he works for Noront, and that Noront has a chromite focus. But what about poor old SPQ? It's got Big Daddy smack dab between Noront, FNC, and FWR?
Mr. Novak writes in the most recent SPQ MD&A (found on SEDAR - Apr. 13) on page 16 under "Overall Objective":
"The Company's business objective is to discover a viable mineral deposit, more specifically copper, chromite and zinc, on a property on which it holds an interest. The Company is in the process of exploring its mining interests and has not yet determined whether these properties contain an economc mineral deposit."
So I'm confused, Mr. Novak. Chromite is sandwiched between copper and zinc with no mention of nickel. Hopefully, he's not quite as confused as a VP of Noront.
