Take a look at the years that it can supply the world Markets, also at the end its main SHAREHOLDERS.
Hernic Ferrochrome (Pty) Ltd has been supplying ferrochrome to the stainless steel industry since 1996. Beginning with one opencast mine and two furnaces, Hernic produced 130 000 mt of ferrochrome in its first year. With the addition of a pelletising plant and two more furnaces, that number has more than tripled, making Hernic the fourth largest ferrochrome producer in the world.
The original source of Hernic’s ore was the Maroelabult opencast mine. Production from this pit ceased in 2000, causing Hernic to begin development of the Maroelabult underground mine. Hernic also obtained mining rights to the Bokfontein reserve, situated approximately 15 kilometres to the west of its operations. Bokfontein is currently developed as an opencast operation, and development of the 1.5 million tpa underground mine commenced mid 2008.
Today, Hernic has an annual production capacity of 420 000 mt. Chrome ore reserves at Hernic’s two main locations amount to approximately 250 MMT, ensuring that Hernic has the capacity to not only sustain, but radically increase production over the next 60-80 years.
Of course, the success of any company is a direct result of the way the company is managed. The Board of directors and executive management team have set high standards regarding corporate governance and ethical business conduct. Hernic places the utmost importance on the company’s responsibility to society, practicing integrity and fairness, and building international understanding through trade.
