"It is with a bit of concern that I see everyone showing such willingness to try to sell this company at the present market value".
I don't really think everyone is actually pushing to get this thing sold per se. I would venture a guess that it is more that no one can say with any accuracy just what it is worth. By having a major do a study, decide to come after it, and make a firm offer for the shares is the only real way to determine that figure.
I recently posted an example of another company getting a firm offer for 300% over what the market valued the company at.
If we were to get an offer of, say $3.00/ share, would the company get sold? Somehow I doubt it. Even if the BOD opted to support the offer, it would have to go to a vote and would require 90% support level to pass. Even if they decided to do an amalgamation with FWR, for instance, after the Hudbay fiasco, they would still need to get shareholder approval.
The most I see happening in the near term is a buyin, maybe at the 1.50-2. level, but even that is a long shot, as there would surely be a revolt, even from whatever funds are still here, and they have already said there is no need for more funds until at least late 2009.
