Message: The Road Issue..

The discussion paper deals with a 7m width roadbed, which will accept reasonablly normal traffiic and speeds to 70 km as well as heavy trucks. Barges across the two rivers is a normal and acceptable solution. For a comparison look at the road out of Yellowknife. I drove that road in the summer of 1961. I believe it was something like 250-300 km just to get to Hay River, and it had a ferry across the Mckenzie river. There was no speed on this road either. If there was opposing traffic, you both slowed to a crawl to get by. The ferry is probably still there as I could not imagine how they would put a bridge across it. The gravel road would not pose a problem, other than probably having load restrictions during breakup, and the ferry would be out of service during that time also, but if they can put in a road to Eagle1 from Marten Falls for +/_60 mill, with the Govts paying 1/3 each this thing is a win/win for everyone.

Regards
