I have to admit that I have not been a great fan of the chromite for a few reasons. First of all, the market ignored the discovery even with it's thickness and grades. It did not translate into share price increase so it did not excite me. Secondly, the global production according to Noronts technical report is 19MT annually which is not a lot and there is 200 years of existing reserves at operations already in production. We just added significantly to the availability of resource and the law of supply and demand would lead you to believe that this will have a negative impact. These are things that are holding us back. However, I have read the reports and there are positive factors that have influenced my opinion over the past month or so.
Our chromite is thick, rich and has an awesome Cr:Fe ratio. We are in close proximity to the US markets and steelmaking capacity. We have an equally rich adjacent Ni/Cu deposit that in time will be proven much larger in size, hopefully in the next week. There are economies of scale and geography that weigh in our favor. Lastly with regards to the law of supply and demand, I am reminded of the story of a man and his friend who were in the bush and were chased by a bear. The man thought to himself that he couldn't possibly outrun the bear but he could outrun his buddy and that was what counted. We just have to be better than the others and it appears that we can, Noront just has some due dilligence to do to prove it to the majors. Once that happens, there is no limit to the future of this stock.
