Sorry to be replying to my own message, but wanted to add;

There also seems to be confusion on how to transfer value into this new account(TFSA).

I guess it would depend on your relationship with your broker, but it should be simple. In my case, I will ask him to do it, and he will simply transfer it from my cash account to this new account. As it is an inhouse transfer it is simple for him, and because of our ongoing relationship it will be at no cost. I will get a slip showing the sale out of my cash acct at xxx price, and another slip showing a buy in the TFSA at the same price.
