Thank you, but understand I am not a geologist. I just have some knowledge/understanding of this stuff. Since geoprof has given me a seal of approval for my post, it appears that I did not screw-up on the geological details.
I think the deep deposits at Sudbury were found as they mined - the deeper they mined the more they found. They would have drilled and conducted geophysics down in the mined areas. I believe the original discoveries were made on surface as they were contructing a railway or something, but I do not know the history of Sudbury. You can Google it, or maybe someone here will provide the details.
I believe that NOT are not necessarily looking for the sources of either the chrome or nickel. Who knows where or what depth that stuff came from. I think the strategy is to just find as much of both as possible. Just trying to find the nickel pods in the conduits will keep them quite busy. I asked Harvey about this and that is what he said...
I am sure our management is making the best decisions as it determines the optimal strategy for the company in these tough times.
