Your description of your general understanding works well for me.

One other consideration though.

Where the Intrusive Event is occuring it creates many cracks in the host rock. And where with the heat and pressures contained within both the Intrusive material and the Host Rock resulting from the Intrusion Event there are many Vents created. Some vents could be MMs turning into VMS when the Magma reaches the Surface, after which it would be referred to genetally as Lava. There is also Hydrothermal Venting where essentially super heated water dissolves minerals in the contact area with magma and transport those minserals in Hydrothermal Solution to the surface where the various minerals contained in the Hydrothermal Solution rapidly cool and the precipitate out on the Surface, be that surface in a Terrestrial Environment or in a Submaringe Environment. The Area in which the RFI occures has been described as being in or underlying a Submarine Environment. And is is very likely that the Massive Cromite Layers were a result of this Hydrothermal Venting and subesquent percipitation of Chromite layers on the Submarine Surface. It otherwise could be that the Chromitite Layering occured clost to but not necessarily at the Surface. Also keep in mind that it is apparent that there were several Geological Events and or one very lind Event with several distinct phases over the Event duration.

Simple stuff???

Old Joe
