McFauld's is "one of the most remote locations on earth." Sure, it has it's difficulties to overcome, location-wise, but let's have a balanced view as well.

It's not too remote for DeBeer's to construct a diamond mine, 40 km down the non-existent road. Neither was the location too much to overcome for the Musselwhite gold mine. And I don't think our Russian friends are scared off by the location, they've had lots of practice with their own Norilsk deposit. They know it's worth it sometimes to invest in a "remote" location. Another thing about a "remote location", that's why the great finds haven't been found sooner, can't just get there from your local Tim Horton's, gotta brave the elements and be a pioneer, so to speak.

For the right find, the big guys WILL travel to the ends of the earth, IMO. And they're already camping out in the RoF backyard, socializing with the "neighbors".

And take a look at some of the finds way up North in the Baffin Islands, where one is dealing with sea ice, honest-to-God remoteness, and no infrastructure whatsoever.

Makes the RoF look positively urban.
