.... unless it is a spousal contribution for an RSP trading account whereby the person making the spousal contribution gets to deduct said contribution from their taxes while the recipient gets to....claim no gains or losses as it's an RSP.

Yes, it is one of the few bones thrown to we taxpayers. The good part also is that, after it sits for 3 years, the spouse pays on the withdrawal and it is not attributed back to the contributor.
