Forestmusic 1,
your question about staking and forfilling certain obligations (= maintaining claimrights) is indeed very valid and in no way a "newbie question". As part of my dd regarding McFaulds I dressed this question many months ago directly to the Ministry of Northern Developments and Mines (MNDM). In the case of staking land in McFaulds here goes their answer. I invite you to contact them (by mail or phone), I did a number of times and I can asure you, they are very competent and helpfull. - helium
Dear Mr.,
It is a requirement of the Mining Act that a holder of a mining claim
report the required amount of assessment work to the Ministry.
Completing the work alone is not sufficient in that a report detailing
the work must be filed, reviewed and approved to keep the claim in good standing. This filing must be done prior to the due date of the claim.
Failure to file the necessary assessment work prior to the due date and without an extension being applied for and granted, will result in the cancellation of the mining claim.
The assessment report must be in a prescribed form as outlined in the Regulations and must pertain to assessment work that is eligible for credit and must be of a value ($) to meet the annual assessment
requirement for the claim. For instance, the assessment requirement for a 1-unit claim is $400 per annum.
I would invite you to call me (or email me) at 1-888-415-9845 (ext 5792) if you have any other questions pertaining to land tenure.
Alternatively, for questions pertaining to the filing of assessment
work, please contact Jim McAuley, Geoscience Assessor, at the toll-free number indicated above, extension 5855.
