“The Bre-X Fraud” by Andrew Willis and Douglas Goold is an excellent account of the entire Bre-X fiasco. For those of us on this board who have been investing for over 40 years, the Bre-X lessons have been well learned. For those recent investors who have not been through the mill with winners and losers in a vast multitude of stocks, reading about Bre-X will give you some insight as to the history of that stock. It will give you valuable information so that you can make comparisons between Noront and Bre-X. It will also serve to let you more fully understand, and definitely appreciate, just why and how Noront is a totally different company. Although I agree with poster alteridem that the whole Bre-X matter is in and of itself “off topic”, newer investors (and even those who, like myself, are quite a bit longer in the tooth) by reading the book, will get a good education in speculating (notice I did not say “investing”) in mining stocks. That being said, I am, and will continue to be, long on NOT until the complete story unfolds. For those of you who are a bit impatient, please remember that we are in the very early innings of the game. If you are interested in seeing it through, learn to go with the flow. If you can not sleep at night with you investments, and your comfort level in your holdings is low, it’s time to rethink your objectives.
