Communication

Been There has an excellent synopsis regarding information transfers from an exploration site. A friend of mine is an exec at a junior company and it is impossible to get information from him because he is a principled manager and the risks are huge to the company if information gets to select people prematurely or on a preferred basis. However as Been There states, you don't have to be a geologist to know when core looks different and when excitement builds. The problem is that we are living in an age where instantaneous communication is expected for personal and professional reasons. My friend tells me that even in very remote sites, there are satelite installations so that internet access and phone access is available to company and crew. This provides the medium for unauthorized news. While drillers can get a bad rap for causing rumours and spilling the beans, there is also a labor shortage for this particular trade and recruiting is not easy. Companies have to provide certain amenities for retention to staff and you would expect a large camp such as exists at NOT would have internet, phone, satelite TV etc.. From what I read about RN on this site in the last month, I would think he would treat his employees with respect. That being said, respect begets respect and if there was a lockdown on information, I would think it would be adhered to and we are experiencing just that.
