What the TSX and Venture exchanges ought to have is a category of stocks that cannot be optioned - where, if a company chooses to belong to that classification, their shares cannot be optioned, and thus they can avoid the manipulation of being shorted. That way, the company's stock price would be more stable, and based more on the fundamental valuation of the company, instead of the manipulation of MM's who have lots of cash and lots of clandestine ways of ratcheting the price up and down to make money on daily or hourly swings in the price.
