I have to agree. It is hard to find experienced international investors bragging about their Russian experiences. As many have commented :" Russia has as much Law as any Western country, but no system of law". Unfortunately it is often law based on convenience rather than ethics.
Interestingly, Burt of Kinross is quickly moving ahead with Kupol (acquired as part of Bema). I suspect he would like to keep the mine life as short as possible!. However, some are touting this as an endorsement of Russia. I'd say "poison pill".
We need to be careful however to watch developments RIGHT HERE as both Ontario and Alberta have been at the ready to expropriate off the top line (royalties) when politically convenient. You will note they only do this AFTER the capital investments have been paid for by the companies. No ethics here either, as one might say "Why don't you repay us 5% of our capital costs if you want a 5% increase in royalties or resource dues.?"
Otherwise ONT/NOT is as good as it gets worldwide.
